Rolling stock manufacturer, Tver Carriage Works, part of Russia’s JSC Transmashholding (TMH), has received a certificate of compliance for the safe operation of the new EGE2Tv Ivolga 3.0 DC electric train. The certificate approves the serial production of the new EMU.

The new train has been designed for operation in metropolis regions and their immediate suburbs. According to TMH, the technical characteristics of Ivolga 3.0 enable the most efficient use of the electric train on routes with passenger traffic of varying intensity.

Ivolga 3.0 is the first electric train designed to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h. Due to its high acceleration rate (0.9 m/s²), the train accelerates quickly and decelerates, reducing the time it takes to complete a route with short hauls and many stops.

The new TMH product is already the third modification of the electric train, which has been in operation in Russia since 2017. The rolling stock has retained the key advantages of previous versions including wide doors, climate control, air disinfection systems, etc. At the same time, EGE2Tv has been improved considering the new wishes of passengers.

In 2021, Transmashholding won the TsPPK tender for the purchase and maintenance of 95 electric trains for the third and fourth directions of the Moscow Central Diameters – a system of city train services on existing commuter rail lines in Moscow and Moscow Oblast, Russia. The first Ivolga 3.0 will be handed over to the CPPK this year.

Currently, 39 Ivolga electric trains of previous modifications run on the first two diameters.
