The trains are set to go into passenger service on the line between Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland in 2024.

The trains will first be used on the Perl to Koblenz route and will later be used on the Bullay to Traben-Trarbach line following its electrification.

According to Stadler, the trains can accommodate 507 passengers in four carriages. They are fully air conditioned and feature Wi-Fi for passengers.

“We are very pleased that we have won the MoselLux award and that together with our partners in public transport we can continue to shape and advance the mobility turnaround,” said Oliver Terhaag, COO DB Regional AG.

“We are proud to announce further innovative solutions just a few months after being awarded the contract for battery multiple units for the Palatinate network. We are now delivering vehicles to DB Regio for use in Rhineland-Palatinate and as far as Saarland. The vehicles for the MoselLux network will be developed and built within a short period of time, so that they are ready to go into passenger service at the end of 2024,” added Jure Mikolčić, CEO Stadler Germany.
