Ingeteam, a specialist in electric power conversion, has announced that it is strengthening its commitment to the development of rail transport with a new contract to equip 24 locomotives for Polish train manufacturer, PESA.

Specifically, Ingeteam will supply 48 high-power traction converters as well as the complete train control and monitoring system (TCMS).

According to Ingeteam, its traction equipment offers significant advantages to the locomotives in terms of efficiency, dimensions, and weight. Furthermore, Ingeteam's converters will facilitate on-board maintenance activities.

Once these locomotives come into operation, there will be a total of 78 locomotives equipped with Ingeteam traction units operating in Poland and its neighboring countries.

The converters are to be manufactured at Ingeteam’s plant in Ortuella, Bizkaia, which was inaugurated at the end of 2019 and is now at full capacity. This is the second contract of these characteristics for this plant in less than one year.

In June 2021, PESA already placed its trust in Ingeteam to equip its trains with INGETRAC converters. On that occasion, the contract was for the supply of traction converters for 12 locomotives and eight EMUs.
